Thoughts on Thursday, Vol. 9

Hello, friends.

Here we are on another lovely Thursday. Are you ready for today's thoughts? :)

First up, we'll take a look at some thoughts on humankind. Let's get started!

"A human being: an ingenious assembly of portable plumbing." ~Christopher Morlet, Human Being

"The true man walks the earth as the stars walk the heavens, grandly obedient to those laws which are implanted in his nature." ~Lemuel K. Washburn, Is The Bible Worth Reading And Other Essays, 1911

"There are too many people, and too few human beings." ~Robert Zend

"Man - a being in search of meaning." ~Plato

"Man is the only animal that laughs and weeps; for he is the only animal that is struck with the difference between what things are and what they ought to be." ~William Hazlitt, The English Comic Writers, 1989

Next up, some thoughts on coffee:

"No one can understand the truth until he drinks of coffee's frothy goodness." ~Sheik Abd-al-Kadir

"No coffee can be good in the mouth that does not first send a sweet offering of odor to the nostrils." ~Henry Ward Beecher

"I believe humans get a lot done, not because we're smart, but because we have thumbs so we can make coffee." ~Flash Rosenberg (What a great name!)

"Coffee is the best thing to douse the sunrise with." ~Terri Guillemets

"He was my cream, and I was his coffee -
And when you poured us together, it was something."
~Josephine Baker

And today, we'll round out our Thoughts on Thursday with some thoughts about risks:

"When in doubt, make a fool of yourself. There is a microscopically thing line between being brilliantly creative and acting like the most gigantic idiot on earth. So what the hell, leap." ~Cynthia Heimel, "Lower Manhattan Survival Tactics"
(This was a favorite when I came across it a few weeks back.)

"I dip my pen in the blackest ink, because I'm not afraid of falling into my inkpot." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson (♥)

"Why not go out on a limb? Isn't that where the fruit is?" ~Frank Scully

"What is more mortifying than to feel you've missed the Plum for want of courage to the shake the Tree?" ~Logan Pearsall Smith

"This nation was built by men who took risks - pioneers who were not afraid of the wilderness, business men who were not afraid of failure, scientists who were not afraid of the truth, thinkers who were no afraid of progress, dreamers who were not afraid of action." ~Brooks Atkinson

That'll wrap up this week's edition of Thoughts on Thursday. Sorry for posting kind of late...I've been struggling to wrangle down my focus and motivation to put this one together. Hope you enjoyed it nonetheless.

Happy Friday Eve!

♥ Marlee
