Monday Music Moment, Vol. 14

Hey folks!

I apologize for officially missing my first post. Friday was a busy evening for me, and I had to prepare for a weekend away with friends for my college roommate's bridal shower. It was way fun, and unfortunately amidst the preparations for said trip, I completely forgot to post on Friday.

Forgive me?

Anyway, I'm back and I've been really kind of wracking my brain trying to come up with a good song to share--I've had this one song stuck in my head, and I blame my students. Although I'm a Disney nerd to the core, these new kids who are up and comers in the Disney world seem like a dime a dozen. We've seen so many of them crash and burn, and it's hard to be excited about a new, young artist these days.

But despite that, I'm sharing with you a song called "Who Says" by the lovely and talented Selena Gomez. The lyrics of this song are pretty awesome, and I kind of love the video, too. I thought you'd enjoy it, even if it is just another little Disney girl. I will say that Ms. Gomez has thus far done nothing to bring question to her character (barring her "involvement" with a certain Mr. Justin Bieber), and she's actually pretty active in working with nonprofits and other charitable organizations.

Enjoy the song! Hopefully it'll brighten your day.

I wouldn't want to be anybody else.

You made me insecure
Told me I wasn't good enough
But who are you to judge?
When you're a diamond in the rough
I'm sure you got some things
You'd like to change about yourself
But when it comes to me
I wouldn't want to be anybody else

I'm no beauty queen
I'm just beautiful me

You've got every right
To a beautiful life
C'mon

Who says?
Who says you're not perfect?
Who says you're not worth it?
Who says you're the only one that hurting?
Trust me
That's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty?
Who says you're not beautiful?
Who says?

It's such a funny thing
How nothing's funny when it's you
You tell 'em what you mean
But they keep whiting out the truth
It's like a work of art
That never gets to see the light
Keep you beneath the stars
Won't let you touch the sky

I'm no beauty queen
I'm just beautiful me

You've got every right
To a beautiful life
C'mon

Who says?
Who says you're not perfect?
Who says you're not worth it?
Who says you're the only one that's hurting?
Trust me
That's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty?
Who says you're not beautiful?
Who says?

Who says you're not start potential?
Who says you're not presidential?
Who says you can't be in movies?
Listen to me, listen to me
Who says you don't pass the test?
Who says you can't be the best?
Who said, who said,
Won't you tell me who said that?

Who says?
Who says you're not perfect?
Who says you're not worth it?
Who says you're the only on that's hurting?
Trust me
That's the price of beauty
Who says you're not pretty?
Who says you're not beautiful?

I'm just saying...I want all of my third grade girls to listen to this song and write it on their hearts. Wouldn't you want your own sisters/daughters/granddaughters to do the same? Positivity is so rare now, and it shouldn't be.

Here's hoping you'll share this song with a special girl in your life.

Until tomorrow,

♥ Marlee
